Back in February this year, Maruti Suzuki had launched the new Swift in India. The popular hatchback from Maruti Suzuki is manufactured in Hansalpur, Gujarat. This time around, the company has started exporting the hatchback, starting with South Africa. Moreover, the company plans to expand its exports to at least 100 countries and regions across Japan, Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The company’s facility in Hasalpur currently has a production capacity of 2,50,000 units per year and plans to increase it to 7,50,000 units once the second and third plant are production-ready in the coming years. In just about two months of its launch, the hatchback has witnessed over one lakh bookings in India. Based on the new Heartect platform like the Baleno and the Dzire, it is now lighter by about 85kgs than its predecessors. Moreover, the hatchback also offers AMT options in petrol and diesel guises for the first time, which has further generated interest among customers.

The start of export also means that the company’s sales will witness a positive growth this year.
