      Maruti Suzuki sales jump marginally in April12

      Maruti Suzuki India limited, the largest car maker in the Indian auto market, saw a marginal sales surge of 3.4 percent in the month of April, 2012. The company sold a total of 1,00,415 units of its cars in the Indian market during this month as compared to 97,155 units sold in the same month precious year.

      In the domestic market, the company managed to sell a total of 90,255 units in the month of Apri’12 as compared to 87,144 units sold in the same month last year, registering a marginal surge of 3.6 per cent.

      Going on the similar growth path, the exports figures of the firm surged marginally at 1.5 per cent to 10,160 units, as compared to 10,011 units sold in the same month preceding year.

      While the sales of mini segment cars (M800, A-Star, Alto and WagonR) dipped by 26.4 per cent to 30,720 units, the compact segment cars of the firm (Estillo, Swift and Ritz) saw a surge of 43 per cent to 26,072 units.

      The entry level sedan Maruti Swift Dzire registered sales surge of 31.5 percent to 15,510 units, while the SX4 sedan saw a sales dip of 634 units as compared to 2,102 units.
