The country’s leading automotive company, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, is planning to ride in a small car based on its flagship compact hatchback, Alto. Being the initiator of small car segment in India, the company aims to boost the sales of the currently high demanded small cars amidst the upcoming festive season with its new offering, Alto 800.

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to have a grand launch of Alto 800 owing to which the car is at present, undergoing rigorous test sessions. This 800 cc car has been designed for the price conscious Indian buyers who prefer small cars combined with class leading fuel efficiency due to the rising petrol prices.

Alto 800 dons the basic design of the Maruti Alto but has embodied several styling tweaks such as extended headlamps, a slimmer and upbeat grille with protruding and sharp lines raising the overall aggressive appearance of the car. The car comprises of wider and U-shaped rear windscreen for better visibility and provides comfortable access to the boot with a wider tail gate.

In the recent months, the company has witnessed diminishing sales for the once a hit model, Maruti Suzuki Alto with overall sales totalling 308,288 units in the last financial year recording a dip by 11 percent as compared to the previous financial year.

At present, the inventories of the petrol powered Maruti Suzuki cars is mounting in line with the rising petrol prices and with the highly successful and segment leading compact hatchback, Eon launched by Hyundai Motors, Maruti Suzuki is targeting to capture the small car segment in full with Alto 800, which is expected to be priced below Hyundai Eon.
