Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country’s largest passenger car maker, has started offering freebies and goodies on its two flagship premium hatchbacks, Swift and Ritz. Individual close to this process said that Maruti Suzuki is also facing not so good times in the currently muted Indian auto market. Although the fall in sales of MSIL were not as drastic as reported by other car makers, it is still looking ahead to come out of the situation and end the ongoing fiscal at a good note.
It must be noted that earlier news came that the car maker has halted the production of its petrol models and now it has announced the cash discount on its petrol powered Ritz. Besides, it is offering instant delivery option on Swift diesel; however this deal will be applicable only till March 17, 2013 and was started on March 9. Also, the interested buyers will be entertained on first cum first basis as the number of models selected by Maruti Suzuki for this promotional scheme is limited. It must be noted that buyers taking instant delivery of Swift will not be provided with any kind of discount on the purchase of the model. However, the petrol sibling of Swift is available at discounted rates, which has been selling in small numbers in the Indian auto market.
Individuals who are interested in the Ritz will be also delighted with a cash discount of Rs. 45,000 on its diesel model, whereas the petrol lovers are provided with a savings of Rs. 25,000. A number of individuals will find this offer a lucrative and interesting deal; however certain things need to be considered before going to the showrooms. Industry experts are of a view that these models might be the inventory lot of 2012 production, which the Maruti Suzuki is planning to clear before the start of fiscal 2014. However, if this anticipation is wrong, one can imagine the impact of slowdown on the Indian auto market that Maruti Suzuki is offering its Swift hatchback without any waiting period as the model always had a minimum waiting tenure of around 2-3 months.
