Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the leading car manufacturer in India, is reportedly planning to upgrade its Ritz hatchback model. The company has already introduced the revamped version of its A-Star model as the earlier version failed to attract the potential Indian customers due to cramped interiors. Maruti Suzuki has not revealed information about the facelifted Ritz but according to sources the new Ritz would be launched in upcoming months.

The company for long has been planning to assimilate CNG supported double fuel engine in its models. Therefore, there is a possibility that the facelifted Maruti Suzuki Ritz might be equipped with this engine.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz is part of the B+ hatchback segment along with Maruti Swift. This car has impressed Indian buyers with its height as it enables passengers to enter and exit from the car easily. Maruti Suzuki Ritz is available in the Indian automobile market in petrol as well as diesel variant. The petrol variant is equipped with the 1.2 litre K series engine and diesel version is powered with 1.3 litre Multijet engine.

In the year 2011, Maruti Suzuki India Limited suffered in terms of production and sales due to constant strikes. Maruti Suzuki Swift, the premier model of the company, had to bear the brunt of these strikes. However, during the rough patch, Maruti Suzuki Ritz started attracting potential customers and assisted the company in overcoming tough times. Maruti Suzuki India is exporting its Ritz hatchback model to other countries as well. The Ritz is sold in European automobile market as the Suzuki Splash. Opel, a Deutsche automobile brand, is selling the modified version of Ritz as Opel Agila hatchback in Germany.
