Maruti Suzuki and the Delhi Police have signed a memorandum of agreement in order to enforce traffic laws, make roads safer and reduce accidents and fatalities. Together, they will bring in a Traffic Safety Management System (TSMS) in the national capital.
This TSMS will not only bring in transparency, but also strengthen the traffic law enforcement. It is basically a set-up which includes cameras mated to various systems like a speed violation detection system (SVDS), red light violation detection system (RLVDS), automatic challan system and even an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system.
Maruti Suzuki will install this system at 10 major junctions from the Ring road corridor from Dhaula Kuan to Sarai Kale Khan. This covers a stretch of 14km, which will be extended to many more regions as well. Maruti Suzuki has taken the responsibility of setting the TSMS up and maintain it for two years. The Delhi Police will take charge of its operation, which will help them manage traffic safety in a better way.
