Maruti Suzuki has started teasing the Ignis through social media and other platforms. Their official website has also listed the vehicle, which is expected to be launched in India on January 13.
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis is a compact crossover with premium looks and sports U-shaped DRLs and projector headlamps. It is more of a bigger hatchback with SUVish looks, which the Indian buyer is preferring these days. The Ignis is expected to be packed with features like a touch screen system with navigation, smartphone connectivity and Apple CarPlay, ABS, dual airbags, parking camera and sensors etc.
Mechanically, the Ignis will get a modified version of the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine, while the diesel version will be powered by the 1.3-litre DDiS mill. These engine will come mated to a five speed manual transmission and the carmaker might also offer an optional CVT gearbox.
The Ignis had made its debut in India at the Auto Expo this year. We have seen many of its test mules taking rounds in India and it is about time the automaker launches the vehicle for the Indian market. It will be sold through Maruti Suzuki's premium Nexa dealerships and go up against the KUV100 and the upcoming Datsun Go Cross.
