      Maruti Suzuki Ignis expected to launch around festive season

      The newest hatchback from Indian automaker Maruti Suzuki, the Ignis, is expected to launch sometime around the festive season this year. The India-bound model bears a lot of resemblance to the one available in the Japanese market. Looking at how the market is shaping up here, the Ignis could emerge as a strong competitor to Hyundai’s Grand i10 and Honda’s Brio.

      Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be powered by a 1.2-litre K12B petrol engine that would mated to five-speed manual and an optional CVT transmission. The diesel variant on the other hand will be powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS engine that will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

      On the safety front, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be offered with standard safety features like ABS with EBD and driver and passenger airbags system as it was announced that cars being rolled fom Nexa outlets would get standard safety features. In terms of dimensions, the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ignis measures 1,660 mm width, 3,700 mm in length and 1,595mm in height. The vehicle also boasts of offering impressive ground clearance figures of about 180mm. Based on the Baleno, which is exported to over 100 countries, the Ignis is also likely to be exported from the Indian market.

      The upcoming Maruti Suzuki Ignis will be offered via the company’s premium dealership outlet – Nexa. On the pricing aspect it is likely to be priced around Rs 4.5 - 6.5 lakh, which means that this could be the cheapest car in the Nexa range.
