It’s happy time for Maruti Suzuki! The company marked sales of 1.5 lakh cars in July 2009. The overall auto market has witnessed good sales growth in the last month but Maruti Suzuki has been a clear winner. The sales of Maruti Suzuki cars jumped by 31 percent to 60,012 cars in the month of July while Hyundai recorded 54 percent sales growth but the number of units were definitely lesser than Maruti Suzuki.
“The domestic market will continue to post impressive sales growth till the festive season and after that, there could be some correction in the sales numbers. The market is growing as the fundamentals of the economy are strong, but the ongoing drought could play spoilsport in demand after the festive season,” said Mahantesh Sabarad, an auto analyst with Centrum Broking.
Cheaper loans and improvement of economic conditions have led to higher sales in the last month. Moreover, the festive season has started early this year. Thus, the companies have started early dealer dispatches. There is a divided opinion from the experts on the issue of future sales growth. Some experts feel that weak monsoons may spell into flat sales while some believe that upcoming festive season and improving markets should mark healthy sales figures in next three months.
