Maruti Suzuki Swift has been a popular name with its presence in the Indian market for over a decade now. The fairly powerful hatchback has always been offered with a five speed manual transmission option in petrol and diesel guise. However, owing to the growing demand for cars with Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology, the company might soon introduce the AMT option in the Swift as well. But then, the 4-speed automated manual transmission sourced from MagnetiMarelli will only be offered in diesel guise. It will continue to be powered by the existing 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine which generates 74bhp of power and 190Nm of maximum torque. The AMT option in Swift is likely to be launched during the festive season this year.It may be priced between Rs 6 – 7.5 lakh and will compete against the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Honda Brio in India.

Car fans in the country have been eagerly waiting for the more powerful Baleno RS model powered by a 1.0-litre BoosterJet direct injection turbo petrol engine to be introduced in the country. It is believed that the powerful Baleno variant will only be offered in the top-spec Alpha trim and might generate about 112bhp of power and 175Nm of torque. The Baleno RS will compete against the likes of Fiat AbarthPunto and the Volkswagen Polo GT. As for the pricing aspect, it might be priced between Rs 8 – 9 lakh.
