      Maruti Suzuki confirms a maximum price hike of Rs. 17000

      The excise duty hike pronounced in the Union Budget 2012-13 has provoked most of the automobile companies in India to hike the prices of their current line up with further shifting productive capacities to diesel car manufacturing.

      Maruti Suzuki India, the largest automotive concerns in the country had earlier indicated that the prices of their product line will witness a hike but the amount of the rise was undecided. But finally the company has come up with the quantum of price increase, which is approximately Rs. 17000.

      The product portfolio of the firm ranging from the small segment car Maruti 800 to its compact sedan SX4 will be impacted with rise in price that is to be ultimately borne by the buyers.

      On the amount of price hike, the Managing Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales) of Maruti Suzuki India, Mr. Mayank Pareek said, "There has been an average increase in prices of our vehicles by 1.75 per cent after the Budget."

      The company’s new pricing policy states the rise in price of its bestselling small car, Alto by Rs. 4200 to Rs. 5900 while the Alto powered with K10 engine will now command Rs. 5500 to Rs. 5700 more.

      Another high selling city car, Wagon R will now be tagged at a price of Rs. 3.47 lakhs to Rs. 4.37 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) being expensive by Rs. 6000 to Rs. 7600.

      The renowned subcompact hatchback, Maruti Suzuki Swiftwill now be priced more by Rs. 7700 to Rs. 11900 across all of its variants while its entry level sedan version, the new Swift Dzire will be dearer by Rs. 8500 to Rs. 12700.

      Even the company’s premium mid-sized sedan, SX4 will now command an increased price of Rs. 7.11 lakhs to Rs. 9.39 lakhs (ex -showroom Delhi) indicating a hike of Rs. 9400 to Rs. 17000.
