      Maruti Suzuki comes up with 2013 Autocar Young Driver contest

      Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country's largest passenger car maker, has come up with the 5th edition of Maruti Suzuki Autocar Young Driver 2013 to look for the best young driver in the country. Reportedly, the auto maker has come up with this innovative concept to promote the importance of safe driving among young turfs of India. Interestingly, the winner of this programme is not just awarded by the Maruti Suzuki – Autocar Young Driver Ambassador for safe driving, but also gets to drive home a new Alto 800.

      Expressing his views on the concept of this contest, the Chief Operating Officer (Marketing and Sales)of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Mayank Pareek was quoted as saying, “Maruti has always believed in promoting responsible driving. Young driver provides a platform to every young individual to showcase their skills of being a safe driver. We are dedicated to promoting the culture of safe driving through communication programmes, IDTRs (Institute of Driving Training & Research) and Maruti Driving School MDSs. In fact this programme tests the skills of the contestants in the facilities provided by the Maruti Driving schools across the country. Tests are conducted in MDSs across 44 cities. The participants also undertake simulator tests there. In fact the Maruti Driving schools are the state of the art driving schools in the country. Maruti Driving Schools were the first to introduce advanced driving training simulator for better judgment and concept of route maps for holistic on-road practice. They have a widespread presence of around 280 schools in over 150 cities across India.”

      In the last four years, this programme has received immense success and has been also endorsed by the Regional Traffic and Government bodies. Sources close to the development process said that the competition of this year is going to be better and even bigger than that of last year. Also, there will a presence of celebrity in all programmes this year. The winner of this contest will be sparkled with a number of promotional activities, which will be lined to the next season of the contest.

      In order to register with this contest, individuals are required to log on to www.youngdriver.in. This contest will be organised in four different phases. The last date for participating in the first phase is June 28, 2013. Thereafter, a skill test will be conducted in 44 cities of the country from July 4 to July 28, 2013. After this phase, 20 final candidates will be brought to Delhi for their participation in the Grand Finale, wherein they will be tested on 20 different parameters of vehicle control, safety, theory knowledge and his application while driving. The winner among all the candidates will be titled by the Maruti Suzuki – Autocar Young Driver of the year 2013 and will be presented with a new Alto 800.

      Maruti Suzuki
