Maruti Suzuki has been ruling the turf across diverse car segments in India. Recently, Maruti Suzuki had been planning to stop the Sx4 production and take it off its sales line to make way for the new 'Ciaz'. With recent update on Maruti halting its Sx4 production, it is expected that a newer version may replace its soon. First glimpse of the Ciaz sedan was seen at the Auto Expo event held earlier this year. Since then, the car has been making headlines every now and then. A while ago, numerous online sources had also spotted the vehicle undergoing road tests on multiple occasions, thereby indicating on a possible launch sometime soon. Recently, sources had managed to click images of Ciaz sedan at Maruti Suzuki's Manesar plant.
To begin with, the Ciaz sedan is expected to be slightly longer than the others in its segment. Maruti Suzuki has claimed that the Ciaz sedan is a product that is based on an all-new design philosophy, wherein the designing cues have been utilized from the ‘Authentics Concept’, a sample of which, was first seen at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. Pricing aspect is not known for now but it is believed that the Ciaz sedan may be launched at a hypothetical starting price of about Rs 7 lakh. Post launch, factors like pricing and mileage shall be the two vital factors in India for this car to perform well in the Indian market. Moreover, the new sedan coming from the Maruti Suzuki production line mileage factor is likely to be decent much like its earlier counterparts.
Maruti Suzuki has not come-up with an exact launch date yet, based on our assumption the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is expected to be launched ahead of festive season this year. Sources who have spotted the car on numerous occasions have hinted that the new vehicle shall receive leather as part of smart interior theme. This move is expected to further boost the sales numbers for Maruti Suzuki. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is expected to be powered by 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine that is also found under the Ertiga's hood. The diesel variant may be powered by a 1.6-litre diesel engine, which will most probably be supplied by Fiat. The engine is expected to be mated to a five-speed manual transmission. It is also said that the company may introduce the Ciaz sedan in an AMT variant. Moreover, sources have stated that the car may feature infotainment system with Bluetooth, AC with climate control, cooled glove box, steering mounted audio controls in the interiors. For safety, the sedan may be loaded with ABS and EBD technology.
