Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel launch likely in May 2015

Maruti Suzuki’s much-awaited Celerio diesel is all set to launch in India, as the company has began its production. Our sources tell us that the Celerio diesel will be launched in May 2015. The company uses a new 793cc, 2-cylinder diesel engine for the hatchback, which was likely to be introduced in Maruti Super Carry LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) first.

Since, the LCV is scheduled to launch next month, the Celerio will become the first product from Maruti’s stable to come with this new diesel powertrain. The engine produces a maximum power of 58bhp with a peak torque of 150Nm. The Celerio diesel is likely to return an impressive 30kmpl mileage that will make it the most fuel efficient hatchback in the country.

With such an impressive fuel efficiency figures, the Celerio diesel will beat the Maruti Swift Dzire, Maruti Ciaz and Honda City that are currently the 3 most fuel-efficient cars.The Celerio diesel is most likely to be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission. Expected to be priced between Rs. 4.9 lakh to Rs. 5.7 lakh, the diesel hatchback will take on the likes of the Chevrolet Beat Diesel, Ford Figo diesel and Tata’s upcoming compact hatchback.

Besides the Celerio diesel, Maruti Suzuki will launch several new cars in India this year including the SX4-Cross, Vitra compact SUV and YRA premium hatchback.
