Maruti Suzuki’s Baleno has achieved major growth in July. It has made a big leap in as compared to its own sales in June as well as compared to its main rivals the Honda Jazz as well as the Hyundai Elite i20.

The Baleno sold 9,120 units in the July as compared to 6,967 units in June.  This is a 30.9 per cent increase over the previous month. Since launching in October of last year, the hatchback has been averaging over 6,000 units with sales peaking twice- once in January (10,572) and then again May (10,004).

Its main rivals, the Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz sold 9,910 units and 3,517 in July as compared to 8990 and 2593 units in June respectively. The South Korean hatchback has only seen a 10.2 per cent jump while the Jazz, despite having a 35.6 per cent increase has actually only sold an additional 920 units.

We believe that this jump for the Baleno has come on the back of increased demand for petrol powered vehicles, a strong seller for the hatchback.
