Maruti Suzuki Swift will now come with driver side airbags as standard across the range, as a part of 2017 model year update.

Maruti Suzuki adds driver side airbags as standard in the Swift

Until now, only the top-of-the-line ZDi/ZXi variant came fitted with the driver side airbags as standard whereas the lower variants got it as an optional extra fitting. Along with the airbags, the Swift will also have a driver seatbelt reminder and buzzer added as a part of the safety feature.

Providing the driver side airbags as standard now, Maruti Suzuki Swift has caught up with its competition like the Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20, Ford Figo, Volkswagen Polo and Nissan Micra; as all of them have the driver airbags as standard across the range. The official announcement is yet to be made by the manufacturer. The addition of the driver side airbags wouldn’t disturb the pricing of the base and mid-variant of the Swift by much.

Meanwhile, Nexa’s premium offering – the S-Cross, will have an ISOFIX fitted as standard. The Ciaz and Baleno got this feature last year and the newly-launched Ignis already comes with standard ISOFIX mounts. So with the S-Cross, all the three Nexa products will now be equipped with ISOFIX as a standard fitment.
