Maruti Suzuki’s premium Nexa dealerships have started accepting bookings unofficially for the S-Cross facelift ahead of its India launch in September. Interested customers can book one at a token amount of Rs 11,000. The new model will continue to be powered by the existing engine options and the changes will be limited to cosmetic and feature upgrades.

Visually, the new S-Cross in India is expected to be on similar lines as the one unveiled for the international market at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. Based on what was seen, the new model might get a new chrome grille with vertical slats along with a heavily redesigned bumper that also gets a radiator grille giving it a sportier look. Meanwhile, the rear will also get a new character with redesigned LED tail lamps. The top-spec version with a larger diesel engine might get projector headlamps.

Under the hood, the 2017 S-Cross will continue to be available with a 1.3-litre diesel engine option that generates 89bhp of power and a larger 1.6-litre one that generates 18bhp of power. The larger engine option is limited to the top spec Alpha variant only. It is to be seen if Maruti Suzuki will introduce a new 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine option as well on the new variant. Also, it will be interesting to see if the S-Cross will be offered with automatic transmission options.

As for the interiors, we expect to see a new upholstery and an updated instrument cluster with new MID. The international spec S-Cross also gets radar brake support (RBS), four-mode ALLGRIP system and heated front seats which however, will not be offered in India. On the pricing aspect, the new S-Cross might be priced similarly or on a slightly higher side than the current version. Details on the variants and features will be known in the days to come.
