Presently, this renowned Maruti Suzuki India Limited is the only automobile maker in the market that manufactures 1.5 million cars each year.

Taking price into account, Maruti Suzuki 1000 was beyond the affordability of 99.5% country's population. In terms of profit, it was a head turner for the company of Maruti Suzuki India. Interestingly, a computerised lottery procedure was adopted to figure out as to who will own a Maruti Suzuki 1000. This was done because there used to be a huge line up of Maruti Suzuki cars in the Indian auto market.

Talking about its technical specifications, this car was powered by an engine with a capacity of 970 cc, which delivered a power of 46 bhp. Though it was an underpowered car due to its weight measuring in 825 kg, but its brakes are good enough on road.

The interiors of the spacious Maruti Suzuki 1000 reflected Japanese style. It was appreciated for sufficient glove box and trunk storage space inside the cabin. The car was ergonomically designed with ample leg and knee space. The front seats could be reclined, which gave extra comfort to passengers. On the other hand, this sedan was good on fuel consumption and provided a smooth ride on Indian roads. The sturdy Maruti Suzuki 1000 was low on maintenance and high on performance, which thereby, made it reliable for Indian buyers. Its excellent transmission system and slick gear shift allowed drivers to cruise the vehicle easily. However, a noteworthy point is that this 5-seater car could be driven easily at 80 km per hour but beyond that it struggled to pick-up on road. However, its ride quality was decent on Indian roads and was considered an excellent city car.
