      Maruti signs MoU with SAE

      The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki signed MoU (memorandum of understanding) with the Society of Automotive Engineers. The new agreement has been inked in a bid to promote and help young automobile engineers in the country in designing and fabricating Formula-1 style sports cars. From Maruti’s side, the agreement was signed by its Chief General Manager (Marketing), Shashank Srivastava, while from the SAE’s side, its India's Chairman V Sumantran signed the agreement.

      Mr. Srivastava said in a press conference in Mumbai on Monday, "Maruti Suzuki has constantly acclimatised its products and services in tune with the changing needs and aspirations of our younger consumers, for whom we make youthful and energetic cars, while not compromising on the value of fuel efficiency. This initiative with SAEINDIA helps to reinforce Maruti Suzuki's strong connect with the youth,"

      The SUPRA SAEINDIA contest includes 44 teams comprising 1,100 aspiring engineers. The contest is originated through American SAE International for designing formula one car. In this contest, 44 teams will be creating their respective dream cars, followed by their testing at the Madras Motorsport Club race tracks near Chennai. The car model of the winner team will be displayed at the Asia Pacific Automotive Conference in Chennai in October 2011 and the Auto Expo 2012.
