After experiencing problems with increasing instances of fake recruitment mails and advertisements being sent through the Internet by using its name, Maruti Suzuki India has filed a petition with the economic offence wing of Delhi Police, asking for action to be taken on such cases. Though these instances had reduced post arrest of some individuals who were involved in fake recruitment during February 2011, these have been sporadic but have increased in numbers these days

This is the information that was put down in the FIR, “..these fraudsters have again become active and are back demanding money (Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 16,000) to be deposited in various accounts of SBI, ICICI, HDFC, AXIS Banks etc. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd does not have any concern with any of them.” However, it was filed against an 'unknown' person.

The move was confirmed when Maruti Suzuki India’s Chief Operating Officer (Administration) S. Y. Siddiqui was contacted. Interestingly, the name of ex-Managing Director Shinzo Naganishi is also mentioned on the email. Siddiqui was quoted as saying, "We have been carrying out awareness campaign against these fake recruitment mails through advertisements and our website but we are still receiving complaints." The whole scam is unacceptable for the company, as it has an organised recruitment structure in place. Candidates are paid travel and daily allowance when they get interviewed. For this reason, Maruti Suzuki wants the applicants to refrain from relying on such advertisements.

Maruti officials have realised that this scam is not limited to certain states, but is spread across the length and breadth of the country. The company is quite concerned about several gullible people who may be fooled easily by these scamsters, not recognising the real from the fake. So now, Maruti is also allowing the Delhi Police to use their technology to solace this problem and awareness about the same is being created, so that other companies do not face similar situations. This is being done by Siddiqui, since he is also the President of National HRD Network.

With the widespread use of the Internet these days, certain amount of care needs to be taken while checking the spam box or the inbox. Other companies also need to spread awareness about the scam in a similar fashion, so that their future and current employees do not get trapped in the same.
