      Maruti registers a sales jump of 28 percent to 1,21,952 units in March 2011

      Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., the largest car maker in the Indian market, has registered a 28.20 per cent jump in total sales in the month of March 2011. The company sold a total of 1,21,952 units of its cars during the month as compared to 95,123 units sold in the same month last year.

      In the domestic market, the company reported sales growth of 38.85 per cent during the month.  Maruti Suzuki managed to sell 1,10,424 units in the country in this month as compared to 79,530 units sold in the same month last year.

      However, the total exports of the company dipped by 26.07 per cent to 11,528 units in the month as compared to 15,593 units dispatched to the overseas market in March 2010.

      In the financial year 2010-11, the company managed to sell a total of 12,71,005 units of its cars in  India as against 10,18,365 units sold in the preceding financial year, accounting for a total growth of 24.81 per cent.

      The segment wise growth of the company’s portfolio cars in March 2011 was as follows - A2 segment (comprising Alto, WagonR, Estilo, Swift, A-Star and Ritz) by 43.27 per cent to 78,460 units; A3 segment (consisting of SX4 and DZiRE) by 33.07 per cent to 13,910 units.

      The sales of company’s recently rolled-out Kizashi sedan stood at 103 units during the month.
