Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country’s largest car maker, has launched the much awaited diesel version of Maruti SX4 in the Indian market on Tuesday. The new Maruti SX4 diesel has been shelved in the price bracket of Rs 7.74 lakh to 8.62 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Speaking on the occasion, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi told reporters in National Capital, "The new age diesel technology as offered by SX4 is high on power and performance, while being low on emissions. SX4 diesel offers an economical and punchier ride." Mr. Nakanishi added that the company expects the new variant to be as successful as other diesel cars from MSI’s India portfolio.
The Maruti SX4, which was already available in petrol and CNG version in the Indian market, will now able to compete more promptly against the likes of Fiat Linea, Volkswagen Vento and Toyota Etios. Besides SX4, other Maruti car models that are available in the diesel version in the Indian market include Maruti Swift, Dzire and Ritz.
The company claims that the new SX4 diesel will offer a mileage of 21.5 km per litre.
