Maruti Suzuki is making sure that it remains at its top position in the Indian market. The company has now launched 5 CNG variants of its popular car models including Alto, mid-sized sedan SX4, multi-purpose vehicle Eeco, besides WagonR and Estilo hatchbacks. The models have been currently launched in Delhi NCR, Mumbai and Gujarat. The cars will cost approximately Rs. 50,000 more than their petrol variants as they come fitted with special engines having gas injectors integrated with them.

“This is the first fully-integrated CNG gas-based technology by any car manufacturer in India which is factory-fitted, is environment friendly and also reduces the country’s dependence on imported fuels,” said Maruti MD & CEO Shinzo S Nakanishi. He also stated that the company intends to launch similar technology in other models later on.

The new variants can run on both petrol and CNG fuel options and will be accompanied with full manufacturer’s warranty. The new engines have been developed by MSIL engineers and enable the car owner to bring the cost of running the car down by up to 60 percent.
