Maruti Ertiga, the upcoming multi utility vehicle (MUV) from Maruti Suzuki India, is all set to mark its debut in the Indian market next year. The Ertiga will be the first ever compact MUV from Maruti’s camp in the Indian market. There have been a number of incidents when the car was spotted testing on the Indian roads in recent months, indicating towards its early launch in the country.
The Ertiga crossover will be rolled-out in the price segment of Rs 6 to 8 lakh where it will be taking on with the likes of Toyota Innova but at a cheaper price. The dimensions of the Ertiga model would be a bit lesser as compared to Toyota Innova, with overall length of 4.2 meter and wheelbase of 2740 mm.
The crossover will come powered by a 1.3L diesel engine, which is the same engine that Maruti is sourcing from Fiat for its Swift, Ritz and Swift Dzire models. The maximum power of this upcoming crossover is expected to be 95 bhp.
The Maruti Ertiga was displayed as RIII concept at the Delhi international auto expo in January 2010, where it had received an overwhelming response by the car enthusiasts and visitors.
