Maruti Suzuki India has confirmed that its new mid-size sedan, Ciaz will be launched in India in early October. Before its India launch the car maker will hold an international unveiling of Ciaz at the upcoming Paris Motor Show that will commence on October 9, 2014. While the unveil event has been fixed, prices of India-spec model will be revealed soon after that.
Official bookings have already started for the sedan effective September 3, 2014 at Maruti Suzuki India dealers at a token amount of Rs 21,000. As for the deliveries there is yet no information as to when will it commence. Replacing already phased out SX4 sedan in India, concept version of Ciaz was exhibited at the 2014 Auto Expo held in February in the beginning of this year. The auto maker has adapted unique promotion strategy for the sedan that seems to create the kind of buzz it wanted to generate for Ciaz.
In India, the vehicle will be launched in both petrol and diesel guise including 4 trim levels- V,V+,Z and Z+ in its range. Petrol powered Ciaz will get a 1.4 litre K10B engine that can belt out top power output of 91 Bhp. Diesel variants of the sedan will house Fiat sourced 1.3 litre Multi0jet diesel engine outputting 89 Bhp of peak power. Claimed to deliver impressive ARAI certified fuel economy of 26.2 kmpl, the diesel variant of Ciaz is already grabbing eyeballs even before its release. Petrol engine too is vouched to return decent fuel efficiency of 20.73 kmpl. MSI will roll out new Ciaz in seven exterior colour shades.
High end models in Ciaz range are expected to incorporate exquisite exterior and interior features like 16-inch alloys, touchscreen infotainment system, rear air-con vents, climate control and keyless entry. Boasting segment largest dimensions, the Honda City rivalling sedan is claimed to offer roomier cabin. In its segment other than Honda City the vehicle will compete with Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, and upcoming Volkswagen Vento.
