Maruti Suzuki Baleno became an instant hit among car buyers in the country owing to its lucrative price tag, new style and standard safety features. As revealed to press, the company will start the Maruti Suzuki Baleno production at the company’s new facility in Gujarat that will begin operation in 2017.

Maruti Suzuki currently has around 8,000 unit production capacity every month, though the numbers are sufficient to meet local orders averaging between 6,000 – 8,000 units every month, the demand for hatchback from the international market has been rising. This has indeed resulted in customers being put on waiting period for a couple of months. Once the new Gujarat plant gets operational, it will help the company reduce long waiting periods and ensure quicker deliveries for the Baleno.

Currently, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is offered in petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol trim gets a 1.2-litre engine that generates 83bhp of power, while the diesel gets a 1.3-litre engine that generates about 75bhp of power and 190Nm of peak torque. The Baleno diesel version if offered in only five speed manual transmission option. The petrol trim on the other hand gets an optional CVT transmission apart from five-speed manual option.

The company has also been planning on introducing the 1.0-liter three-cylinder Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine sometime soon, which also might be rolled out from the new facility. Currently, the Baleno for the international market is produced within the country, which means that the carmaker will use new production facility to manufacture more cars for the international markets as well.
