The Mahindra XUV100 (Code name S101) has been spotted during the filming of its advertisement in the Bandra suburb of Mumbai. The rear of the car was completely undisguised revealing the design in its entirety.
Pictures indicate that Mahindra has gone for the hatchback crossover route and fitted the car with chunky wheels, big bumpers, some side cladding and a high ground clearance stance. Now, Mahindra would find it difficult to take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai in the hatchback class (B-segment) if it were to go in for a conventional small car. So, Mahindra has done the next best thing and has decided to do a crossover to go along with its image of makers of rugged UVs.
Coming to the design, the XUV100 sports elements like high mounted vertical rear door handles similar to the ones found on the Chevrolet Beat. Its tail lamps are horizontal units that remind one of the Renault Kwid. The XUV100 also gets roof rails as standard to add to its muscular image and its window line is pretty high too. This, the top spec variant, also gets a roof spoiler and alloy wheels.
The Mahindra XUV100 will be offered with a new a 1.2-litre petrol engine as well as a 1.5-litre diesel unit; the latter will be borrowed from the Mahindra TUV300. Meanwhile, gearbox options are expected to include a 5-speed manual as well as an AMT.
