Within two days of the commencement of nationwide bookings of the hot selling SUV, Mahindra XUV 500, the country’s leading utility vehicle manufacturer has recorded an outstanding 7,200 plus bookings piping up the overall sales number to over 25000 units in the country.
The Cheetah inspired SUV has been receiving highly overwhelming response since its inception in India in last September owing to which the company had earlier announced to step up production capacity to 4000 units a month. But the multi-fold surge in demand witnessed in the recent months has compelled the automaker to plan a ramp up in the production capacity to 5000 units per month by September-October this year.

One of the intrinsic factors responsible for the exponential demand is the fact that the upbeat and aggressively styled XUV 500 has been conferred upon with over 22 awards comprising of "SUV of the Year", "Car of the Year" and "Viewers Choice of the Year" at the Zigwheels Awards 2011 among the notable ones along with similar titles received from Top Gear Magazine and CNBC TV18 Overdrive Awards and Business Standards Motoring 2012.
Along with catering the home market, Mahindra & Mahindra will be embarking upon establishing new markets for the commercial auto hubs of Chile, Australia and Western Europe by this fiscal year.
