The Indian carmaker managed to sell a total of 35,716 vehicles in the previous month as compared to 39,009 in June last year. The passenger vehicles segment (which includes UVs, cars and vans) sold 16,170 vehicles in June this year as against 17,070 vehicles during June 2016 with a drop of five per cent. The carmaker’s domestic sales stood at 33,861 vehicles, as against 34,989 vehicles during the same time last year, a deficit of three per cent.

Also, the carmaker exported 1,855 vehicles in the month of June, which is a whopping 54 per cent drop in sales as compared to 4020 units last year. The Bolero continues to be the work horse for the Indian carmaker averaging around 6,800 units every month

Rajan Wadhera, president, automotive sector, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd., commenting on the June’s sales performance, said, “At Mahindra’s Auto Division, while our domestic sales for June registered a de-growth of three per cent, for the first quarter we grew by one per cent. Our CVs grew by 17 per cent in the first quarter and 12 per cent in June 2017. Our focus has been to minimise channel stocks to reduce the transition losses, on account of GST implementation. We are closely observing GST and strongly believe that once we tide over the initial uncertainties, GST is set to usher in a new era for the economy in general and the automotive industry in particular. Going forward, we expect that our wide product portfolio will drive our growth”.
