Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, the country's leading manufacturer of utility vehicles, is all geared up for the launch of its Verito-based Vibe model in the domestic market on June 5, 2013. With its new Verito Vibe sub-4 metre hatchback, the company has announced its arrival in the immensely competitive compact car segment. The soon-to-be launched model would have spacious interior space and aggressive price tag as its key strengths. The Mahindra Verito Vibe is expected to carry introductory price tags around Rs. 5 to 6 lakh in the Indian auto market.

The Verito Vibe is a premium hatchback model and would be pitched against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i20, Volkswagen Polo, Tata Indica Vista, Nissan Micra, Toyota Etios Liva, Renault Pulse and Fiat Punto in the country. The Mahindra Verito sedan shares platform with the now discontinued Renault Logan and the new Verito Vibe is based on the same vehicle as well. The upcoming Mahindra hatchback is nothing but a Verito with truncated boot, as per the initial pictures available on the internet. Therefore, the new Verito Vibe gets its spacious interior cabin space as part of its Renault lineage.

From the front, Mahindra Verito Vibe looks identical to its sedan elder sibling. The tail end features a chopped boot that is joined to the roof in a steep and slightly radical manner. The tail lamps in Verito Vibe are mounted on to the C-Pillar, and some might feel this design to be slightly obsolete. The interiors are expected to be of top draw quality as the car would be competing against i20, Polo and Swift premium hatchbacks in the country. Under its hood, the Mahindra Verito Vibe would be powered with the 1.5 litre dCi diesel engine that produces a peak power output of 64 bhp. This 1.5 litre frugal power-mill also powers the Verito sedan and is pegged to be among best features of the upcoming Mahindra hatchback.

Expressing his views on the upcoming Verito Vibe, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, was quoted as saying, “The Verito Vibe marks our entry into the high volume sub-4 metre segment. We are confident that this product will be successful in delighting our customers with its young and sporty looks, without compromising the benefits that our existing Verito has to offer.” The Verito Vibe boasts of sporty looks and style statement, which according to company would come handy in winning the hearts of young Indian car buyers.
