Mahindra has launched an updated version of the TUV300 in the Indian market at Rs 8.38 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai). The updates see the car get two new colours, a new top-of-the-line T10+ as well as some major design updates.

The updates comprise a piano black front grille, new headlamp design with DRLs, X-shaped metallic grey spare wheel cover, muscular side claddings and chin plate, clear lens tail lamps, silver accents in the interiors and a reverse parking camera. Inside, the interiors remain largely unchanged but they do get some silver accents as a part of the deal. Mahindra has also added static bending headlamps and micro-hybrid technology for the engine.

Mahindra offers the TUV300 only with a 100bhp/240Nm 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine. There’s only a five-speed manual on offer with Mahindra appearing to have discontinued the AMT option altogether. Reports on the internet also suggest that Mahindra will introduce a petrol version for the TUV300 which is expected to be the same 1.2-litre turbocharged unit found in the XUV300.

The TUV300 is Mahindra's second competitor in the sub-4 metre compact SUV space. It takes on the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V and of course, Mahindra’s very XUV300. In this price bracket you also get premium hatchbacks like the Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20, Volkswagen Polo, Maruti Baleno as well entry-level versions of the sedans like the Maruti Ciaz, Honda City and the Hyundai Verna.
