The recently launched TUV300 from Mahindra has been witnessing a good response ever since its launch in the country. The carmaker has reported a change in trend as more customers have been looking for convenience and opting for AMT trim. As per revelation made to sources by Pawan Goenka, Executive Director, Mahindra & Mahindra, about 50% of the total orders received have been for the AMT version. Adding further Goenka said, “We didn’t anticipate such high demand for AMT. In fact one of the reasons why there is a gap between demand and supply is because our AMT production capacity is limited.”

The higher price Rs 8.52 lakh for T6+ and Rs 9.12 lakh for T8+ have not been a strong deterrent to interested customers who prefer convenience over the manual version that starts at Rs 6.90 Lakh (All prices, ex-showroom Pune based). Another reason for the strong demand maybe due to TUV300 being the only compact SUV to offer an AMT option. Ever since its launch in September, the automaker has reportedly received about 12,000 bookings until now and has been steadily growing.

Goenka further added that the company has managed to reach a production rate of about 5,000 units a month and plans on continuing to do so in the coming days. The vehicle is powered by 1.5-litre mHawk80 turbocharged diesel engine mated with Micro hybrid technology and a start-stop system that generates a decent power output of about 84bhp and 230Nm of torque. The company claims to deliver an impressive mileage figure of about 18.49km/l.
