The Italian design house responsible for some of the stunning sheet work on Ferraris, Maserattis and also Rolls Roycs cars might soon be owned by the most popular Indian SUV maker Mahindra and Mahindra. This acquisition has been in talks for some time now and the initial round of talks didn’t go well since as the stake holders weren’t convinced about selling the design firm to Mahindra.

But then this is set to change with the new round of developments where Mahindra continued its interest in the design firm considering the massive advantage the automobile company will have over it rivals. Also, the TUV300 had design inputs from the Italian firm. We are not sure if the tank like inspiration was their idea but agreeably, it looks mighty different from other offerings.

About the acquisition, Pininfarina stated, “Negotiations between controlling shareholder Pincar, creditor banks and Mahindra ... over the acquisition of Pinifarina's shares owned by Pincar and debt restructuring never broke off”. Even though the design firm is responsible for creating the best masterpieces on road, it has suffered hugely in the recent times owing to brands doing the designing themselves instead of depending on the firm.
