Mahindra & Mahindra, the country’s leading utility vehicle maker, has declared the launch of a cheaper model of XUV500 in the Indian auto market. At the same time, the auto maker also announced that it will be introducing a new top end variant, which will be more expensive. It must be noted that there were rumours of a price cut model of XUV500, but no update from the official bench of the auto maker was received from a long time. Also, Mahindra has plans to switch a number of its old models in a few couple of years. However before this move, it will be introducing some of the facelift models in the existing line up, which will probably facilitate the auto maker in reporting a boost in its sales.

The President of Farm Equipment and Automotive Sector at Mahindra, Pawan Goenka said that the auto maker is looking ahead on developing new variants of its existing line up. Interestingly, Mahindra already has a wide array of models in its Indian product portfolio, starting from Bolero to XUV500. Expressing his views on the launch of new models, he was quoted as saying, “There is no scope for one more product. If we launch a new product, we will be replacing an existing one; otherwise we are crowding it too much,”

Speaking on the auto maker’s strategy for the coming 4-5 years, Goenka affirmed that several models of Mahindra are anticipated to follow a same pattern, which comprises a slight facelift in a couple of years, which will be then followed by a major change in 4 years. Reportedly, post 8 years of its launch date, the auto maker is planning to provide a complete overhaul to the model, which will maintain a level of enthusiasm among the Indian auto aficionados. He further added, “Now that the pipeline is full, we are getting into the product lifecycle (the life term of any product).”

Coming back to the Mahindra XUV500, it must be noted that the company officials did not revealed the changes in base as well as new top end variant. On this, industry experts are of a view that this reduction in price will surely target the comforts and luxuries of the model, the thing for which XUV500 is known for in its segment. However, the dearer variant is expected to get an automatic transmission system, for which the high class society of buyers was waiting from a long time.
