Mahindra has revealed its new-generation mFalcon engines, which are the smallest engines Mahindra has ever made. These engines have been made from ground-up and are all-new. The petrol is a 1.2-litre engine that churns about 82bhp of power and has been named as the mFalcon G80. The diesel too is a 1.2-litre engine but produces 77bhp of power and is therefore called the mFalcon D75.Both these are new three-cylinder engines and the smallest in the Mahindra portfolio.

The petrol engine uses variable vale timing, while the diesel is a turbocharged engine. Mahindra claims that both these engines deliver strong low-end torque characteristics which would be ideal for the city-centric KUV100.Mahindra has developed this new engine with inputs from Ssangyong. This is the first petrol engine developed by Mahindra Powertrains and there are many more that are in the pipeline. The company has developed two more engines displacing 1.5-litre and 1.6-litre in capacity.

Mahindra is looking at adding more petrol engines to its portfolio now with the new Supreme Court ruling that bans the sale of diesel vehicles exceeding 2000cc. Mahindra has been working on several new engines. Besides petrol and diesel, it is also enhancing its electric-powered vehicle portfolio. Mahindra is the only automaker in India that has been focusing on fully-electric vehicles.
