Mahindra and Renault have finally come to a mutual agreement to continue its entry level sedan model Logan in India. The French automaker has finally decided not to call quits at its joint venture with its Indian counterpart. The companies had announced earlier that they will be launching a smaller Logan in the Indian market.

Business Standard brings us exclusive spy shot of the new Mahindra Renault Logan CS model. The model shows smaller boot which reduces its length to less than 4 meters. This means that the model will be available with 10 percent excise duty benefit once it is launched in the market. Currently, it attracts 22 percent duty due to its bigger model. The new excise duty benefit will enable the company to bring its price down at least by Rs. 30,000 – 50,000. Moreover, in order to get the duty benefit, it may also be powered by Nissan’s 1.2L 80hp petrol engine which will power Nissan Micra and is also Euro IV compliant.

Logan model had been extremely successful in the overseas market owing to its great mileage and spacious design. However, in India, it failed to pick up any sales mainly owing to its old-fashioned design and lack of features as compared to its contemporaries like Swift Dzire and Tata Manza.
