Mahindra Racing made history when it became the first Indian team to take part in the MotoGP Championship in 2012. However, it has decided to close down its Moto3 factory team from the next season. This Indian brand is supplying the MGP30 to three different customer teams – Team CIP, Team Italia and Ambrogio Racing from this season. Also, a fourth team Aspar, which is the property of erstwhile MotoGP champion Jorge Martinez will also take part in the race on Mahindra bikes. The constructors have taken this decision to bolster the manufacturing process and development of this successful bike. This shows that the company is looking forward to strengthen its position in two-wheeler racing and develop itself as a full-fledged constructor in the near future.

Mahindra Racing Chairman, SP Shukla told in an interview, "It is a natural progression for us. Two years back, we were novices in the MotoGP arena but in a year's time we have proved our worth as constructors, which are proven by the fact that we now have four customer teams in Moto3. Mahindra personnel will be present at the every MotoGP but won't run their own bikers against its customers."

When asked about their bikers for this year, Arthur Sissis and Miguel Oliviera, Shukla said, "The contract of our bikers is generally only for a year. Their performances have been impressive this season and I am sure they would not have any problem for securing a ride for next season. If they have trouble we can always help them out by recommending them to any of our customer teams."

The CEO of the company Mufaddal Choonia was also excited when made contact. Choonia said, "Working with experienced customer teams rather than having their own factory outfits is a model successfully employed by our manufacturer peers in the Moto3 series. We have a great group of people in the team and we are extremely grateful to all of them for the contribution they have made."
