A facelifted version of the Mahindra Quanto has been spotted on test near Nashik. This will be the first major update for the Indian automaker’s compact tallboy and it is expected to get both cosmetic and mechanical updates.

Pictures suggest that the overall design will continue from the current car but with updates like LED DRLs, new front grille and bumper. The top spec variants are also expected to get a new design for the alloy wheels.

Given that Mahindra has begun to standardise cabin trim across its models, we can expect a significant number of bits from the Scorpio and the Xylo. The feature list will be upgraded and in that regard at least one variant will get a touchscreen infotainment system.

This facelifted Quanto will get the TUV300’s mHAWK 80 three-cylinder diesel engine that produces 85bhp and 230Nm of torque. Gearbox options are expected to include a five-speed manual as well as a five-speed AMT.

The car is expected to be launched next year and we should expect an unveiling at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo.
