In a bid to mark their entry in the compact car segment in India, the country’s largest utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to roll-out small cars on the platform of Logan platform. At present, the Verito is the only passenger car in M&M’s India portfolio, which is an upgraded version of Logan sedan of erstwhile Mahindra-Renault partnership.

While answering a query in this regard to TOI, Mr. Pravin Shah, CEO at M&M, said, "If we feel that post this and the next product (sub four-meter Verito), customers want another product, we will go for it. M&M has the capability and competencies to develop the product."

Developing various cars at a single platform is not a new phenomenon in India as the country’s largest car maker has been successfully doing this with Swift platform, which was used to develop entry level sedan Dzire and MUV Ertiga. It not only reduces the development time but also makes the process more cost efficient.

The company recently launched the new upgraded version of the Verito sedan in the Indian market with a number of cosmetic upgrades at both exterior and interior fronts.
