Raining power bikes from Indian and International bike-makers seems to be the new trend in the local market. Amidst all the powerful bikes that were showcased or launched at the recently ended Auto Expo 2014 event, Indian auto giant Mahindra plans to launch its very own power beast to compete in this segment. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the bike may be powered by a 160 cc engine that stands as a tough competitor in the 150cc hot selling range.

Mahindra plans on launching a 160cc bike soon

Sources from Autocar Professional stated that, “Mahindra Two Wheelers Limited is working on a 160cc premium commuter motorcycle, which, if all goes well, is expected to be rolled out either by end-2014 or in early 2015. However, the utmost priority for the company remains to roll out the ready 110cc scooter, which is squarely aimed at garnering volumes.” In recent times, Mahindra has just made a mark in entry-level commuter bike segment with the Centuro, whereas Pantero never really kicked off.

Now the company intends on tapping a variety of segments and creating its brand image in the two wheeler segment. As per sources, Mahindra Two whellers had been banking on an average product line based on Kinetic philosophy. One such bike which had been showcased multiple times at events is the Mojo 300. It is said that the bike had quite a few technical and designing flaws to it, and hence never really kicked off as expected. As per sources, the bike has been reworked at the Pune facility and has been showcased at the recently held 2014 Auto Expo event. The bike is anticipated to be powered by 300 cc engine and it is expected that it would generate around 27-30 HP. The big cowl design on the radiator unit is eye-catchy. Moreover, the filler cap featuring on right side of this unit looks like radiator coolant chamber. The headlamps are bee inspired and look bolder, upside down front forks and Mahindra trademark golden rib like exposed chassis are some has been retained.

Detailed specifications about the anticipated 160cc bike has not be revealed for now. But spy images suggest that the bike is based on a naked sports design that seems to appeal to the younger biker lot in the country. As per images, the bike features an aggressive stance and holds a larger wheel base. The mystery bike has not been named yet and things may get clear post an official unveiling by the Indian bike-maker.
