      Mahindra & Mahindra makes generous donation for flood relief in Uttarakhand

      Earlier this year, the natural calamity had left Uttarakhand deserted and gasping for help. After this horrid chase, USD 16.7 billion Mahindra Group came forward with a resolve to help the flood ravaged state to revive from the terrible shock. Mahindra Group employees vowed to give away one day salary to Mahindra Foundation so that rehabilitation efforts in impacted areas could be made.

      The amount which was collected has been used to donate 19 Mahindra vehicles to the State Disaster Headquarters located in Dehradun. According to the company's official press release, the delivered vehicles comprise 13 all-wheel drive Bolero pick-ups for each of the 13 districts in the state, one Scorpio, three 25-seater buses, one 25-ton MTBL truck and a Bolero fitted with a 20 KVA Mahindra Powerol DG Set. Notably, Mahindra Foundation provides medical relief to underprivileged and poor people. It also contributes towards the rebuilding process after natural calamities. Apart from vehicles, the company has also delivered 150 solar street lamps and 300 solar lanterns to severely hit villages, which now have no electricity supply.

      Mahindra & Mahindra officials handed over vehicles and solar street lights/lanterns to the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Vijay Bahuguna on December 30, 2013. Rajeev Dubey, President (Group HR, Corporate Services & After-Market) and Member of the Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra said, “At Mahindra, we have consciously pledged to go beyond monetary help when it comes to relief efforts and we hope our donation will contribute to the rebuilding efforts in the State and help restore its infrastructure.” Mahindra Group has also donated Rs. 1 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, Uttarakhand so that urgent relief to flood affected victims could be provided.
