Mahindra & Mahindra, the country's largest utility vehicle maker, has delivered 42104 units in the domestic market during the month of May 2013 with a marginal growth as against 39938 units sold in the year-ago period. The cumulative sales of Mahindra stood at 43460 units during the period as over 43989 units reported in the corresponding period of last year. The passenger vehicle segment of the Indian auto industry marked a growth of 5 per cent with the sales of 22244 units under the review of 21154 units sold in May 2012.

During the month, the exports of the auto maker stood at 1356 units. Expressing his views on the sales performance, the Chief Executive (Automotive Division) at Mahindra & Mahindra, Pravin Shah was quoted as saying, “We have achieved an overall growth of 5 per cent in our domestic volumes during May 2013 for our automotive sector, in spite of a challenging environment. The growth in capital investment and private spending have also slowed down which is a cause for concern. At Mahindra we remain cautiously optimistic of the situation and do hope that on the back of the new product launches, the auto industry will rev up sooner than later.”
