The very first petrol engine powered KUV100 from Mahindra is finally set for launch on 15th January, 2016. Interested customers can book one for Rs 10,000, while deliveries for the vehicle would begin from 30th January next year. The upcoming vehicle could carry a price tag ranging between Rs 4-7 lakh. Apart from diesel, the KUV100 also gets Mahindra’s internally developed petrol engine option.

The Mahindra KUV100 would be powered by 1.2-litre mFalcon G80 petrol engine that would generate about 82bhp of power and 114Nm of torque, while the diesel also gets a 1.2-litre D75 diesel that may generate a maximum power output of about 77bhp and a peak torque of 190Nm. In terms of design the vehicle sports a new grill that seems to be inspired from the XUV500, while the large airdams further offers a bolder stance. For safety, Mahindra has offered airbags and ABS systems. The headlamp unit sports DRLs, while the side profile carries mFalcon badging.

For now Mahindra may only offer 5-speed manual transmission, while an automatic transmission could be introduced at a later date. The vehicle could emerge as a strong competitor against the Maruti’s upcoming vehicle Ignis crossover and the Ford’s popular seller Ecosport. New age styling could also find takers from the younger age group.
