      Mahindra introduces 14-day MPOWER program to train young entrepreneurs

      Mahindra Group, the $ 15.9 billion worth parent company of Indian automobile giant Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) Limited, has introduced another pioneering initiative of training young entrepreneurs called 'MPOWER', in association with Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad. The MPOWER is a 14-day management programme jointly developed by IIM Ahmedabad and Mahindra, which focuses on educating young transport entrepreneurs about professionalizing the Indian Trucking sector. The MPOWER initiative is intended for the next generation individuals of transporters and will educate them towards business expansion and optimal utilisation of resources.

      The MPOWER program, jointly developed by Mahindra - IIM Ahmedabad, is scheduled to begin from January 23, 2013 and will go on till February 5, 2013. Further, the initial batch will feature 30 Youth Transport Entrepreneurs participating in the program, which will include educational field visits and external workshops amongst others. The Indian auto major has also planned special guest lectures by top automobile industry experts, so as to provide superior insight on the domain development measures and present market trends, during the 14-day program.

      Expressing his views on the company's MPOWER initiative and IIM Ahmedabad as their knowledge partner, Nalin Mehta, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD), Mahindra Navistar Automotives Limited, was quoted as Saying, “In keeping with this philosophy, we have now taken this concrete step by developing a unique management development programme that will transform the way young transport minds view their business - MPOWER. At Mahindra, we call it a RISE initiative for Youth Transport Entrepreneurs, with the main objective of helping to professionalize the Indian Trucking Industry through Management Development Initiatives for the next generation of entrepreneurs.”

      Nalin Mehta further added, “This is a great opportunity for young transport entrepreneurs to take maximum advantage through this initiative of Mahindra. This is a tool that would help shape their vision for tomorrow’s challenges, so that they are empowered to take their family business forward with state-of-the-art know how. This program is specially designed by and will be conducted by IIM - Ahmedabad. IIMA has designed the course module for the key stakeholders in the Trucking Ecosystem preparing them for tomorrow. It’s a long term sustainable initiative which is in line with Mahindra philosophy.”

      The MPOWER program will be another shining feather in Mahindra's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The training program is developed by IIM Ahmedabad and Mahindra through the process of co-creation and is one-of-a-kind in several ways. Interestingly, the entire course content was crafted from scratch through the active participation of several young transporters who shared the issues they faced and concerns around running their businesses.
