      Mahindra e-Verito launched at Rs 9.50 lakh

      Mahindra has introduced the fully electric version of their sedan, the e-Verito, at Rs.9.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Mahindra e-Verito will join the Mahindra E20, being the only two cars offered in India with an electric only powertrain. Bookings for the electric sedan have started and deliveries are expected to commence soon.

      The e-Verito continues to get the fascia of the standard Verito with the chrome rectangular grille dominating the proceedings. It gets graphics on the sides and the badges on the boot-lid make the e-Verito stand out. The interiors have been carried over too. The spacious cabin of the Verito is dressed in beige and gets climate control, all-four power windows and a 2-DIN entertainment system.

      The diesel engine of the Verito has been replaced by electric motor rated at 30.5kW of power output. In automotive terms, it is about 41bhp. The e-Verito gets automatic transmission and has a top speed of 86kmph. Mahindra has claimed that on a full charge, the e-Verito will drive you around for 100kms before it runs out of battery. It employs regenerative braking to harness the energy from braking to maximise the range. A full charge takes eight hours and 45 minutes there is also an option of a one hour 45 minutes quick recharge to harness 80 per cent of the range.

      The e-Verito is only the second full electric vehicle launched in the country and as such has no direct competition in its segment. It is available in three trims D2, D4 and D6 with the D4 costing Rs 9.75 lakh and the D6 priced at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
