Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., famous for its pick-up vehicles, has recently launched the Bolero MaxiTruck with revolutionary fuel saving Micro Hybrid technology. This heavy duty vehicle is competitively priced at Rs. 3.52 lakh (ex-showroom Pune). In a statement, Senior Vice-President Marketing (Automotive Sector) at Mahindra & Mahindra, Vivek Nayer, said, “The new Bolero MaxiTruck features the stylish front look of Bolero; the distinctive front grille gives the vehicle a masculine yet aesthetic face, lending it a strong on-road presence and evoking a sense of pride for its owner. The Bolero MaxiTruck is the first product in the Pick-Up category to offer the revolutionary Micro Hybrid technology which has been pioneered by Mahindra in India. This path breaking system will help deliver considerable improvement in fuel efficiency, ensuring greater prosperity for our customers.” Evidently, at present, Mahindra & Mahindra leads the pick-up segment with a market share of about 85 per cent and this latest introduction is only going to make its foothold in the Indian automobile market stronger.

It must be noted that the Micro Hybrid technology accounts for a superior efficiency by avoiding fuel burning when not required. With this advanced technology, the sensors automatically detect the movements of the vehicle and when optimum, the engine stops operating in order to save fuel. Consequently, the kilometre run for every litre of fuel increases while emissions are considerably reduced.

The technology is directly embedded in the vehicle's engine. Thus, engine is switched off as soon as the vehicle comes to a complete halt. A real life example of this impactive technology can be cross referenced with driving on city roads. At a red light signal, the vehicle stops and just within 5 seconds, the engine is shut down automatically. Once green light resumes, as soon as the clutch pedal is pressed by driver, the engine will instantly start rolling to proceed with the journey. Notably, this eco-friendly and innovative technology has been pioneered in the country by Mahindra & Mahindra. The same has seen its implementation in Scorpio and Bolero SUVs.

Bolero MaxiTruck also makes use of a Viscous Fan-drive technology that switches off the fan once temperature of the engine falls below a pre-set limit along with a new muffler design to drastically reduce the back-pressure. The net result is less fuel consumption by the engine that in turn results in improved fuel efficiency. Clearly, with such cutting edge technologies, Bolero MaxiTruck ensures proportionately higher savings on fuel costs. Besides being fuel efficient, this vehicle can handle a payload of 1 ton while moving at a top speed of 100 km per hour. Higher payload and speed will ensure a great pulling power that is ideal for carrying heavier loads in a single trip. Furthermore, the auto maker has done well to reduce the turning circle radius to 6.6 metre for easy manoeuvrability in tight corners.

Apart from speed and power, Bolero MaxiTruck with Micro Hybrid technology also offers enhanced comfort and utility to customers. Plush fabric seats and greater cabin space are some of the features that this vehicle is provided with. These features help in reducing the fatigue caused to the driver while ensuring more comfort. Some other noticeable features of this vehicle are Bolero-like instrument panel sporting easy-to-read dials, integrated dashboard and glove box.
