      Mahindra Bolero Maxi Truck Plus pick-up launched at Rs. 4.33 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai)

      Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, country’s largest utility vehicle manufacturer, rolled out its new pick-up truck, the Bolero Maxi Truck Plus in the domestic market on May 6, 2013. The Bolero Maxi Truck Plus comes with an introductory price tag of Rs. 4.33 lakh (in the ex-showrooms of Mumbai). The new entry level pick-up model would bolster the company’s dominant presence in the small commercial vehicle segment, while providing a practical option to cater to the rising demand for vehicles for urban goods transportation.

      Speaking on the new model launch, Pravin Shah, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, was quoted as saying, “The Bolero Maxi Truck Plus has been developed on Mahindra's rugged Bolero Pick-up platform and is conceptualised to cater to the needs of urban goods transportation.”

      The new Mahindra Bolero Maxi Truck Plus model is powered by a 2.5 litre, 2,523 cc, common rail diesel motor. This oil burner unit is BS IV compliant and delivers a class leading fuel efficiency of 17.7 kmpl. The pick-up truck also boasts of an improved payload capacity of 1,150 kg, along with a bigger 40.6 square feet cargo box.

      On the company’s latest offering for the small commercial vehicle segment, Shah further added, “We have recognised the city congestion what we all see and how to be more fuel efficient and how to manoeuvre in the lanes and by lanes of the small cities. So considering all these aspects, we have built-in the best in this product offering. Also, the new product is appropriately priced as the product will enable the customer to recover more than one he pays for (it).”

      Mahindra & Mahindra had introduced its Bolero Maxi Truck pick-up range in the domestic small commercial carrier market last year. As per reports, Mahindra has recorded sales of over 1.03 lakh units during the previous fiscal in the 2 to 3.5 tonne pick-up segment, as compared to 73,000 units sold in the 2011-12 financial year.

      Speaking on the promising sales pick-up truck sales recorded by the company, Pravin Shah added, “The Indian pick-up market is growing more rapidly than ever before and Mahindra has been leading this category (2-3.5 Ton GVW LCV segment) with a 54 per cent market share in the last fiscal. We have continuously updated and evolved our products to deliver greater value to our customers.”

      With the new Bolero Maxi Truck Plus pick-up, Mahindra & Mahindra could meet the rising demands of its customers, who wish to earn more by upgrading their businesses. Expressing his views on the impact of new model in the company’s product portfolio, Shah was quoted as saying, “We are sure that the stylish new advanced Bolero Maxi Truck Plus will strengthen our pickup portfolio and help consolidate our market share in this segment.”
