      Luxury Cars Throng the Indian Auto Market

      This season, luxury cars have a new destination altogether, India as the Indian auto market is welcoming numerous luxury models. Leaders are ought to get associated when the luxury quotient arises and this is the case this time around as well. Brands like Mercedes Benz, Porsche and Skoda have plans to launch their lavishing models here in India. Mercedes-Benz India, the Indian subsidiary of the Germany based luxury car maker, launched the eagerly awaited new version of Flagship C-Class, the C-Class sedan, in the Indian market yesterday.

      Addressing the media on the eve of the launch of this car, Mercedes-Benz India Director (Sales & Marketing) Debashis Mitra said, "The C-Class is our Flagship and we are the market leader in this segment. The new C-Class will further strengthen our position in the market." He was also quoted as saying that “The company is eying to sell about 250-300 units of its C-Class sedan as compared to 200 units registered by the previous version.”

      Mercedes Benz C-Class is the cheapest model in the history of the models launched by the carmaker, being rolled-out in India. The C-Class alone, contributes about 40-45 per cent of the net sales of the brand in India auto market. The newly released version of Flagship C-Class model is priced between Rs. 29.75 lacs and 32.30 lacs. According to Debashis Mitra, the company aims to lure the younger generation with the car affixed with many innovative features.

      Another giant carmaker, Porsche has confirmed establishment of its fifth showroom in Chandigarh. As per company officials, Porsche is more than satisfied to establish another landmark in India, where there is growing market for luxury cars. With the recent launch of the showroom, the site would bring the entire Porsche product range under one roof, including the Porsche Cayenne, which is India’s most favoured Porsche model.

      During the opening ceremony, Rishi Raj Jain, Dealer Principal at Porsche Centre Chandigarh expressed his happiness and gratitude. He said that “We are proud to be selected by Porsche to represent its operations in this key region. Our experienced and dynamic team is committed to delivering exceptional Sales and After Sales service on par with Porsche global standards.”

      Joining the league is another luxury car maker, Skoda Auto India, which recently unveiled the all-new petrol version of its mid-level premium sedan Skoda Laura RS. Skoda Auto India Board Member and Director for Sales & Marketing, Thomas Kuehl said that "The new Laura RS is a performance-oriented product aimed at car enthusiasts who have an emotional connect with their car. It's not a product you choose on pure rationale as the RS badge evokes tremendous passion amongst the owners.” He further stated that "Designed to provide maximum driving pleasure through performance and precision, the RS continues to build on Skoda's reputation for comfort and safety."

      With so many names competing to establish themselves as leaders in the domain, the Indian auto market would surely see many more luxury models being launched in the near future.
