While the Geely group prepares to acquire Lotus after the deal gets finalised this July, Volvo has just revealed that their upcoming vehicles will use Lotus’ suspension know-how.

Lotus suspension expertise to trickle down to future Volvos

Volvo’s principal engineer of vehicle dynamics, Roger Wallgren, has told reporters that future Volvo cars will use Lotus-tuned suspensions. Though he reiterated that no plans have been made so far regarding the technology transfer, their expertise may in fact be widely used across Geely’s upcoming applications.

If one thinks hard about it, it seems obvious that that the first recipient would be none other than Volvo’s performance-oriented ‘Polestar’ division. Wallgren emphasised the Geely group’s ambitious intention towards Volvo’s success and will in-turn look to invest generously in the Polestar entity. Reports state that Geely has already promised to let loose the full potential of Lotus, and if you look closely at how the brand is doing with Volvo, it seems like Mercedes-AMG, BMW M and Audi Sport could have a worthy competitor in the future.
