      Nissan India is all set to showcase its much anticipated model Terrano in the Indian car market on 20th of August, 2013. The car will be officially unveiled at Nissan's promotional event, which is scheduled to be held in Mumbai. In recent months, Nissan Terrano had been grabbing a lot of eyeballs owing to its masculine design, which has been borrowed from its sibling, Renault Duster.

      Reportedly, the car will come equipped with 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine, which will be available in differently tuned options of 85PS and 110PS. Sources close to the development process revealed that the compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) of Nissan will be produced at its Chennai plant. In order to cater the demands of a large section of society, Terrano will be available in four different variants namely XL, XL(O), XV and XV Premium. In addition, the car will also sport an automatic transmission option as seen on Sunny sedan and Micra hatchback. Reports also suggest that this entry level compact SUV will be priced around Rs. 9 lakh for the base model; however nothing is confirmed as now.

      As per the official sketches released by the Japanese auto maker, Terrano will sport a different look from its sibling with a distinctive rear and front fascia. Unlike other re-badged cars, it will be considerably different when compared against Renault Duster. The shape of its bonnet gives Terrano a typical look of a SUV being manufactured by Nissan. Apart from it, other distinction can be seen in the restyled tailgate of the car where half lights are present.

      Presently, the compact SUV segment is getting all more competitive and now with the upcoming launch of Terrano it might make thing tougher for car markers. The segment features some of the renowned brands like Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra Quanto, amid others. Industry experts are of a view that It shall be interesting to see how Nissan Terrano performs when pitched against the likes of its sibling Renault Duster, which has already established a nice for itself in the Indian car market. Owing to its added features, auto analysts feel that Nissan Terrano could be priced at a much higher price than Renault Duster, which is presently available in the Indian auto market at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 7.9 lakh for the base variant.
